According to this article , teenagers spend almost every waking moment of their lives (except school) in front of some kind of media. I found this astounding although I realized that I do the same thing. When I wake up, I check my iPod touch for emails. After getting ready, I generally turn on my laptop to check facebook and all my other sites. When I am done with classes and come back to my room, I immediately open my computer. I spend time texting, talking on the phone and listening to my iPod. I watch TV sometimes or I watch TV on my computer. Even though it seems to weird, I am one of those people that has succumbed to the biggest media craze ever. Because the study does not say nor hypothesize (and it would be incredibly hard to test), I wonder whether after eighteen years old, the time spent in front of media changes. I am not eighteen (although the study was definitely conducted while I was), my habits have not necessarily changed since becoming nineteen or going on to college. In fact, I almost spend more time in front of the computer between doing homework and fun things. I wonder if this will change when I get out of college or whether being a part of this new media craze means that I am more likely to have a job where I am in front of some type of screen, with the internet at my fingertips.
How much time do you spend online? Is it difficult to gauge whether its more or less because of the changes in technology over the last two decades?
