the knees.

Although I was young at the time, I remember most of what happened to me when I took a trip I will never forget.

First off, this trip is not the kind you fly or drive to. It is the kind of trip that you wished never happened, where you cried because it hurt so badly and were left with something that will never leave you: a scar.
In my case, its two scars. A weirdly shaped circle lays rough along both of my knees. The skin has never smoothed over and the color remains a pinkish, rosy cheeks color. Neither scar is of the "Wow! Look at that cool scar" type and instead are the more the "I wish I could cover this up in the summer" kind of scars.

So, how did I get to display these marks across my body? Well, number one: My aunt had a crazy dog. Number 2: She had a rock driveway. As I stood on the driveway (most likely walking to the back yard), the dog came around me entangling my legs within its leash. He then started to run and my legs were still wrapped. I was dragged over the rocks in the driveway and my body was wet with blood and tears when my mom came to grab me.

The cuts weren't too deep as I did not need stitches but they were large enough to not fit under a band-aid or several. Although I don't remember how old I was at the time, I remember sitting in the cafeteria during elementary school with large gauze pads taped tightly over my knees making it difficult to walk and run.

Now I am left with these ugly reminders of a day that I had forgotten many of the details of. I don't remember what I was doing exactly and how far or long I was dragged. Out of all my scars though, these two are definitely the worst and I will never forget how I received them.

  1. Sorry about your scars but I'm glad that you are otherwise okay! And this reminded me of a time when I came home to find my teenaged son (now 25) laying in the floor knocked out cold. I was able to shake him and get him to wake up, and I got him to a doctor. He ended up with a cuncussion - because my golden retriever wanted to take part in his workout routine and tripped him and he hit his head. He's got a fairly sensitive head, though. It probably wouldn't have hurt the average person, but he's had several head injuries, so it doesn't take much to mess him up. It wasn't funny at the time, but reading your story and looking back on it made me laugh. You gotta love those crazy dogs!
