I used to be really organized. Every paper had its own folder, each class its own notebook and my planner was filled to the max. I like to have everything in those manilla color folders with the tabs--labeling whats in them. Even teachers would ask me to help them organize. I would go through their drawers and folders, throwing things out, putting them in the right places and fixing so everything was easily accessible.
While some of my organizational habits have fallen out of place for myself, my plan is to return to that way of life. I miss knowing where every single thing is and having everything nice and neat.
One aspect of my life that always remains organized is my computer and since that's where a lot of us spend much of our time, I figured I'd show some of my habits and suggestions for an organized workspace.
This is my "Documents Library":
As you can see, there are no documents hanging around my documents. Everything has a respective folder so files are easy to find. Certain things also have sub-folders, like my Freshman Year Things to Keep folder. Inside of that, there are two sub-folders, Fall Semester and Spring Semester and then each of those is divided up by class. In this way, nothing gets accidentally deleted and my page doesnt get totally cluttered.
My Desktop:

I hate when desktop icons are all over the place and I like to look at them easily. For these reasons, I line mine up at the top of my page. I also put them alphabetically so when I want to find something, I just look for it by first initial. This worked better when I had more icons as now there is so few it doesn't really matter but still, I like the neat look. I also NEVER save any files to my desktop (*alex's tunes cannot be moved elsewhere. That is the only reason it's there)
My Bookmarks:
I save A LOT of things I find on the internet. My roommate often pokes fun at the fact that I find the most random things and a lot of pages I like. The point of bookmarking is going back to a page so foldering things makes finding them later much easier. Since I've had so many bookmarks in the past, I try to only bookmark things I know for a fact I will look at again and go through the folders often. Having things organized like this also makes it easier to purge unwanted pages. Big clumps of websites often makes it overwhelming.
So, there's a little glimpse into my organized computer. This way works well for me, but maybe you like yours different. How do you like your documents and bookmarks? Any specific way?
