Just because I dont necessarily enjoy Halloween, doesn't mean that my little cousin, E, didnt join in on the fun.

E dressed up as Raggedy Ann basically because she didnt have any ideas of her own..and she liked the red wig. This costume is approximately 15 years old and my sister and cousin J won a costume contest as Raggedy Ann and Andy when they were about 3.

I went home to trick-or-treat with her and teach her the rules of going out and finding candy (i.e. basically every house that has a light on you go to).

For a kid, shes not too interested in candy and was completely satisfied with her small little bucket. She ended up continuing on though and ended up with 69 pieces of candy and two pencils.

Although I have gone out with E on Halloween every year since her birth, I never had the experience I had last night.

As she shyly walked up to each door and rang the bell, she smiled hard. She was ready to say her rehearsed "trick-or-treat" with a giant smile while holding her bucket under her chin with both hands. I felt proud that she was brave enough to be out in the dark, speaking to tons of strangers. As everyone commented on how cute she looked her reply was always a very sincere "thank you" to go with the others she said when receiving the candy and when they told her to have a good night.

Watching someone become so excited when they get a small treat placed in their bucket is an amazing feeling. I wanted her to go to every house she could and experience that moment of ecstasy over and over, filling up her bucket with candy she probably wont even eat.

(she likes making funny faces)

I love this kid more than anything and she knows that. I cant wait to trick-or-treat with her year after year.
