Halloween was taken from me as a good holiday sometime in the mid 90's when someone in my family decided they were going to throw a Halloween party--something my sister and I had been waiting to do.
From then on, Halloween became a drag--get dressed, go over there, wait until everyone was ready to go trick-or-treating and then get picked on for ringing the doorbells first.
Just because my sister and I were faster and better trick-or-treaters didnt mean we shouldnt ring all the doorbells we wanted to/could.
Now, college Halloween is a slut-fest. Excuse my language, but there isnt any other way to describe it. Girls run outside in their underwear and a shirt and say its a costume. Every purchasable costume is made into "sexy ____". Sexy Marios, sexy firefighters and sexy cowgirls walk around campus waiting for a ride to the club. Its the biggest excuse to wear no clothes and people take full advantage of it.
The second biggest reason people wear little/no clothes? When they are drunk, theres less to take off. Honestly, someone told me that was their reason for wearing next to nothing. Seriously?
The liquor stores around the campus area this week/weekend have been filled with nothing but student cars. People are stocking up on Four-Loko, a new and popular drink that is on the verge of being banned because its so bad for you.
Students went and bought as many as they could before they are taken off shelves. Anyone ever heard of the word responsibility?
These two aspects of college Halloween are the reason I went home for the weekend. I dont think Halloween is synonymous sex nor drinking. Halloween=candy for me and thats how i think it should be.
Halloween = another excuse to party! :)
