I talked about the privacy aspect of this blog a few weeks ago and also mentioned a conference. Well, faithful followers, it is time to tell you about this organization I have come to love and can't wait to get working on.
I write for a website that is dedicated to college-aged girls. Its sort of like an in between Seventeen and Cosmo sort of deal that students from colleges across the country write articles for.
Its called Her Campus--check it out!
Anyway, a few months ago, I saw an article on there written about an organization that has been taking shape and moving forward for about a year.
It's called She's the First.
and it is AMAZING.
The object of the organization is to promote and support women's education. In a country where most females are fortunate enough to attend college and are required to attend elementary school and [pretty much all of] high school, sometimes its hard to understand that there are so many girls that don't have the opportunity to get out of their homes and be educated.
What She's the First does is raise awareness and money to send girls to school. They work closely with girls in other countries and provide school supplies and education which is a gift for not only the time they are enrolled but for the rest of their lives--as they move from their poverty stricken and sometimes abusive households into higher education and cities to assist in providing for their families.
You may want to take a look at the website and if you're in college, you may want to work on starting your own chapter. Thats what part of the process I am in--getting it approved by my school and getting it running.
Anyway, be aware that some aren't as fortunate to be mandated to attend school. Raise awareness to help others.
