5 things on my iPod

I wrote this about 5 things on my iPod--thought I would post it here. Check out these awesome songs.

Glee Cast-Don’t Stop Belivin’
The song was good when Journey sang it, but the Glee Cast Version is even better.  Following the surprise of Glee being a giant hit, the music does not disappoint either. No matter how hard I try, this song comes back into my head, filling my mind with dah-dah-dahs and the soothing beginning vocals from Lea Michele and Cory Monteith. Don’t Stop Belevin’ is a great song to pump you up or make you relax—whatever may be preferred.

Lady Gaga-Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)
I may be a big Gaga enthusiast, but this less popular song on the Lady’s top selling records is just as great as the more popular ones. With a different feel than Bad Romance or Just Dance, Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) has some great background beats and synthesized melodies.  This song is off Gaga’s first record, The Fame, which was released in 2008 has taken the United State by storm with over three million copies and over 600 thousand digital copies sold.

The Honorary Title-The City’s Summer
Off their album Scream and Light Up the Sky, The City’s Summer is just one of the incredibly great indie songs from The Honorary Title. The five person band was featured on the show One Tree Hill during season five and one of their songs is also on the shows CD.  Since first hearing The Honorary Title, I have been a devoted fan.  Their music is soothing yet catchy, with a bit of a rock-band feel. Generally the songs from The Honorary Title aren’t ones you dance to, but The City’s Summer makes me want to get up and bop around.

Bon Jovi-(You Want To)Make a Memory
Bon Jovi isn’t as popular now as he used to be, but that doesn’t mean his music is not still great. After releasing 11 studio albums in about twenty five years, the music selection from Bon Jovi’s music is plentiful.  (You Want To)Make a Memory was released in 2007 off the album Lost Highway. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008 but didn’t come out on top. This soft and meaningful song is beautiful and poignant among other things. The music is perfectly placed with the vocals in a way that neither overpowers the other.

Yelle-Ce Jeu
Definitely not conventional with French lyrics, Ce Jeu is one of the cutest, bubble-pop songs I’ve heard in a while. One of Yelle’s first songs debuted on Myspace in 2005 and an album, Pop Up, was released in 2007. The band is small with only three members, but their size doesn’t take away from the music. Although the lyrics aren’t known unless you know French or translate them, it doesn’t matter. I find myself humming and singing the French lyrics often—not caring that they aren’t in my first language.  If you want a fun song to dance around to, hum often and listen to try this one.

I love Lady Gaga (trying to get concert tickets for this summer), Glee, and The Honorary Title...I first heard of them while watching One Tree Hill...I've discovered a lot of great music that way :)
